Communication that works as hard as your members do.

Solidarity Strategic Communications helps labor organizations and councils tell their story clearly, consistently, and well — so members stay informed, the public sees the work being done, and leadership can focus on what matters most.

Why This Exists

Every union has a story worth telling.

Every union, council, and trades organization has a story worth telling — the wages won, the apprentices trained, the job sites made safer. But telling that story takes time, and time is exactly what's in short supply for leadership already running the day-to-day.

Growing your reach beyond your current network matters just as much as engaging it — your wins deserve to be seen widely, not just by those already paying attention.

That's where I come in. I manage the communications — social media, newsletters, websites, and event support — so your organization always has a steady, professional voice in every room it needs to be in.

WHAT I DO — QUICK OVERVIEW

  • Social Media Management. Content calendars, posts, and engagement that keep members and the public in the loop.
  • Monthly Newsletter. Polished, on-brand storytelling delivered on schedule.
  • Website Management. Current, accurate, and reflective of who you are today.
  • Meeting & Event Support. Promotion, materials, and on-site coverage for the moments that matter.
Services

A cohesive communications program — not four separate tasks.

Here's how I show up for your organization every month.

Social Media Management

Your social presence should reflect the real work happening across the state — and reach the people who need to see it.

  • A monthly content calendar built around your organization's priorities
  • Posts highlighting member trades, apprenticeship opportunities, legislative updates, and events
  • Active monitoring — responding to comments and messages, flagging anything for leadership
  • A monthly performance summary with clear, actionable recommendations

Monthly Newsletter

A consistent, direct line to your members — every single month.

  • Content sourced, written, and edited in coordination with leadership and affiliate locals
  • A polished, on-brand layout built for both digital and print
  • Full management of your distribution list and send schedule
  • Open-rate tracking to keep improving what members actually read

Website Management

Your website should look like the organization you are today — not the one you were two years ago.

  • Regular updates to news, events, and organizational information
  • Routine reviews for accuracy, broken links, and outdated content
  • Ongoing edits and minor design updates as requested
  • A site that represents your membership well, every time someone visits

Meeting & Event Support

From legislative days to local trainings, your events deserve communications that match their importance.

  • Planning and promotional support for meetings, trainings, and public events
  • Invitations, reminders, and follow-up communications
  • On-site coordination assistance as needed
  • Photo and content capture for use across newsletters and social media
How It Works

Trust is what gets people to show up.

I start by understanding your organization's priorities, the members you serve, and the voice you already have. Then I make sure that voice comes through clearly and consistently, everywhere it needs to be seen and heard — with a communication plan that's steady, organized, and dependable.

Throughout, the approach stays flexible and responsive, adapting to what your organization actually needs rather than applying a one-size-fits-all plan.

Good communication builds trust — and trust is what gets people to show up, pay attention, and get involved.
Pricing
$2,000
per month retainer

One flat rate covering all four core services: social media, website management, newsletter, and event support. Social media receives the largest share of focus given the ongoing content and engagement it requires. Event support flexes with your calendar — scaling up for conferences and legislative days, and back for quieter months.

Individual services are available à la carte for clients who'd prefer to start with fewer areas of support.

Why Solidarity Strategic Communications

Meet Imke Schessler

Imke Schessler is a communications professional, educator, and civic organizer based in Bangor, Maine. She holds a B.A. and M.A. in Communication from the University of Maine, where she now teaches as an Adjunct Instructor. She is also a proud member of the Part-time Faculty Association of Maine (PATFA), Local 4593 — so this isn't outside work to her. She understands labor from the inside.

Imke previously served on the Bangor School Committee, where she elevated the importance of equity in education and student-centered learning. Her civic impact on Bangor is as wide as her roots are deep: as President of the Downtown Bangor Partnership Board of Directors, she builds partnerships between city officials, businesses, and cultural organizations toward better-informed local investment. As an organizing member of Friends of the Lower Kenduskeag Stream, she helps coordinate volunteer-driven environmental clean-up efforts along the Kenduskeag Stream.

A grassroots organizer at heart, Imke believes strength comes through renewal and inclusion. She's dedicated to expanding outreach and deepening civic engagement, particularly among working-class Mainers in rural and underrepresented communities — voices she believes have long been overlooked and underserved by the political process.
